My CAT 2007 Blues!!!

Took the CAT(Entrance exams to IIMs) last Sunday. For an exam that is regarded as one of the most competitive in Asia - I dint prepare at all. Although I had to leave at 7.30am to reach the exam hall in time , I was at Sathyam Cinemas Chennai, Watching "A Mighty Heart"(Review later) till 1 AM. Reason why I was this careless or unconcerned about preparing is that I had already accepted defeat - After having purchased the CAT application form , I said to myself this aint happening you just wasted 1100 rupees.

I continued with this attitude and took the exam in spite of not having prepared, to test my own aptitude levels. I must admit that i was very over confident and even complacent. I told myself and to all those who enquired that 85 percentile was assured since I have never performed badly in CAT and 2 times i took it before I prepared for only 2-3 days.

But CAT proved me totally wrong. Quants the section in which I presumed i was invincible was a total bouncer my accuracy was horrible and so was my speed. In the recent years CAT has moved more from a speed test to an accuracy test , which is good if u know how to make hay out of it.

Anyways let me not bore you more, to summarize , the results unleashed a severe ego bashing and brought my confidence about attempting aptitude tests crashing to 5000ft below sea level. Here is my score card as generated by one of these sites that discussed CAT 2007.

Kaatriniley - Meera - Lyrics!!!

This song makes me nostalgic, It was the lullaby that my mother used to sing to me up until I was in class 5th. Trivia: "Enna thavan saidha nee yashoda" was my other lullaby. Beautiful song, very melodious,

Sung by M.S.Subbulakshmi : she is a legend and I dont even qualify to rate her singing
Movie : Meera
Raag : Savitri (I guess)

Lyrics :
Kaatriniley varum geetham
Kangal panithida pongum geetham
Kallum kaniyum geetham
Kaatriniley varum geetham

Thevasam!!!

Today is my grandpas death anniversary. A small puja is held in the family called thevasam. I really really wonder what good comes out of it. If my grandpa were the body we associate him with , well the body is gone and no good is going to come of praying to it. If he is the atman, then he is always there , we are all in him and he in us , why pray and not feel .

Anyways the pandit performing the puja , I am sure supports the ritual cos its quite some money for him :)

And Oscii Dies!!!

Its strange how a fish that was just an inch long became a close entity of the family. Oscii is so called cos he belongs to the family of fishes called Oscar. He was purchased with a partner for Rs.70 but the partner died almost immediately. Whereas Oscar lived on, for two long years, after his partner's death. He was almost another family member, properly fed, petted, loved and cared for. He grew to become almost 4-5 inches long and we were forced to buy a new tank for him. Attachment with him thats what he created. But this morning though, we woke up to the news from our father "Oscar is no more". And the bonds of attachment withered away. It strange how quickly we can forget our loved ones, the ones for whom we fight, we struggle, we earn are so quickly forgotten once they go in for that long sleep called death that I really wonder if something called love really exists. Anyways May Oscii's soul rest in peace.

Hot Headedness!!!

A failure in a very seriously pursued project , a normal TT game that went slightly wrong, a domineering friend, a friend who neglects you for something , bad health and troubled loved ones . These are part of day to day life and never did I realize that these happenings  over the last week had left me so hot headed that the scales tipped within just 5min of a lost argument.

I who had struggled so hard to  be cheerful, team friendly and light headed lost my anger for the first time in abt a couple of months and that too for a not so serious reason. Perhaps I should have titled this post as "Blame it on spirituality". Perhaps its all due to over meditation(is there such a thing) and trying to be calm more than the mind wants u to.

Whateva be the thing i am too ruffled up for the day  and am so god damned upset about being ruffled up.

Someone pls puncture me and remove all the hot air.

cheers,
