Nishabd - A review!!!

|

Saw Nishabd 2 days back. Although this again is no new idea and just an indian version of "American Beauty" , Ram Gopal Verma doesnt disappoint. The movie is decently made and all actors especially Amitabh and Jiah Khan render an applause worthy performance.

Before going ahead with the review a few words about Jiah. She is hot , arresting eyes, beautiful lips and shows a lot of leg. I wouldnt be surprised if she is named the next indian sex goddess. Most importantly she has acted well too. Her voice is a bit of a turn off at times when she shrieks but what are dubbing artists for. If she plans her moves well I am sure she will do well for herself.

Now back to the movie, the movie is about a 60 year old man(Amitabh) who falls in love with a 18 year old gal(Jiah) when she visits his house with his daughter for her vacations. Does amitabh have a daughter when he is 42(Jiah and his daughter are of the same age in the movie) is a question thats left unanswered but it aint important. Although there is a lot of scope for direction and bringing out emotions RGV doesnt experiment much and keeps the going good until he reaches the climax.

The climax is a bit of a screw up, ends abruptly(absurdly) and tries to adhere to the indian culture or something. One is left unsure about whether the movie has ended or not till the "The End" label comes up.

The lip lock between Amitabh and Jiah was unnecessary why do people in bollywood believe that lip lock means love, i am no moral police but i dint like that part. But let me not digress the movie is a good 3 on 5 and definitely worth watching once.

Cheers,
--Badri--

Well, I found Ritu more sexy than Jiya in the movie :) and I didnt like the ending..RGV tried to tell that a 60 year old indian male whether it is Amitabh or not doesnt have any sex life and unlike American Beauty he is not involved in any Under the sheet activity with his wife..I dislike this idea..and I particular dont like the idea that her wife completely ditches him. I dont think thats what happens in Indian families.I will rate it as a average movie..:)

Hi!

First time on your blog.. was searching for "jaane kya chahe mann" song and landed here. Quite liked your blogs and wanted to comment. Hope you dont mind "strangers" visiting your blog. I rather loved the ending of nishabd, i think that is the most sensible and practical ending to such a story. If it is not for this, then what ending is possible? I believe by this ending, they have rather broken the bollywood construct in which a "happy" ending is a must. I would love to keep talkign about it but let me stop here atleast for the starting :)

dude you really have bad taste in movies and in women ! although i agree what u said abt water but nishabd and good movie ? powerpacked performance? amitabh bachchan should be slapped till hes unconcious and jiah khan shud be sent to a theater workshop !! are u fucking kidding me .. lame lame movie !!

it was simply a bad mashup of american beauty and lolita .... in fact the supporting acotrs were way better than the lead acotrs !!

Well, read ppl's comments about nishabd and your own review badri.....i was actually looking out for jaane kya chache man bawra...ended up on this blog, found it interesting...and came across nishabd title....AHHH>.mann...how can i forget those terrible 2 hours i spent in the movie hall..a total waste of money...felt like killing amitabh for signing such a movie, ofcourse his performance was good but of no use! Ram gopal verma...having seen all his movies..whenever he gets a new heroine..the only thing he does is to expose her body instead of talent! If only he could have made jiah say more dialogues, i mean, amitabh in this movie falls for jiah for her cheerful promptness and not for her body...but the way ramu has shown it, he has tried and exposed jiah a lot....i know he will never improve..he did the same with urmila in rangeela, even that wasnt needed, antra mali in gayab, naach...to me he seems more of a nympho than an intelligent director ...plus whichever hits he has given , i cant put them in A class...i mean, literally, if you compare his movies with the hollywood classics...tell me where does he and his movies stand..nishabd would b not even in top million.....rating..talking about ratin..the movie doesnt even deserve to be rated for the kind of loopholes it has in it....what he has tried to show in the movie and what was on his mind, both are totally different...it seems towards the end the fool himself got confused and ended the movie ...seriously i got pissed off when i saw such a terrible storyline ..i mean if he got inspired from american beauty or lolita..atleast dont make a mess of the storyline then..what to say..nishabd really leaves you speechless in the end...speechless for the only reason that you dont know which abuse would be best suited for mr. ramu....the performances are fine, all have done a good job, but the bottomline is....it was abad bad movie by a director who has fallen on his head i think, someone who made classics like satya, ends up making movies like nishabd!

A very well done movie. I have had an affair with a girl just like jiyah could relate to every scene.
